What is Ash Ketchum’s Age in Pokemon Series?
The answer to this question is quite complicated yet simple at the same time. In the beginning of the anime, it is shown that Ash Ketchum is 10 years old at the time he sets out on his ambitious quest. 10 years, 10 months, 10 days old to be precise, as written by the late Takeshi Shudo. Now, throughout every Pokemon series Ash Ketchum remains 10 years of age. However, that shouldn’t be the case and raises the question why is Ash or any other character not at all aging in the series? There are several explanations to this apart from the fan theories.
Why exactly hasn’t Ash grown old until now?
One of the prominent theories is the ‘Time Difference Theory’. It simply means that time functions differently in the anime world than it does in real life. If one is to calculate it using the parameters then in real life the show airs for only 30 minutes per week. This equation doesn’t justify the assumption that Ash should age like those in real life. Another explanation for Ash not aging is the ‘Eternal Youth’ theory which states that the characters in the anime are ageless and it doesn’t matter how much time has passed since the airing of the very first episode.
